WHAT IF I CAN'T VISIT TO CHOOSE MY TREE?
If you are unable to visit, please complete the order form in our leaflet or download it from here. When complete, please post or email it to us and we will select a tree for you. Payment can be made by cheque via the post or by telephone by debit/credit card.
CAN I PERSONALISE MY TREE? Our rules
You may create a small garden around your tree of approximately 3 feet (91 cms) in diameter.
Tip: Avoid digging any deeper than 5 inches (12 cms) as you will damage the roots of your tree.
Tip: Heaping soil up against the trunk of the tree will rot the trunk and may kill your tree.
Tip: Do not remove the soil as this allows the water to puddle, potentially damaging the tree.
Only ONE* small ornament may be placed by the tree. We will remove excess items. (height guide 20cm maximum)
You are welcome to plant bulbs around the tree, taking care to avoid the roots.
No plastic or artificial flowers or plants of any kind are permitted. Our aim is to keep a natural looking woodland for everyone.
Please do not place stones, gravel or slate, flags, windmills or solar lights around the tree. These easily get caught in our maintenance vehicles and often get damaged and can damage our equipment.
Please : No fences or borders of any kind are to be erected around the tree. These will be removed, as again they may potentially damage our maintenance vehicles.
Only one plaque per tree and only plaques provided by Heritage Wood may be placed by the tree. Any others will be removed.
Please do not attach anything to the trunk or branches of the tree. Do not put cable ties around your tree.
*Anything left at your tree is done so at your own risk, please be aware that people are able to access the woods 24/7 .
We reserve the right to remove any items contravening our rules. These will be kept at our office, for what we consider a reasonable period of time, to allow you to collect them. We will not necessarily contact you in such circumstances.
CAN I BRING MY DOGS?
Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Please clear up after them and please do not let them disturb the wildlife or other visitors.
WHAT IF MY TREE FAILS?
Such is nature's way that inevitably a small percentage of trees will fail over the years.
If your tree should fail, please advise us.
If this occurs within 5 years of sponsorship, your tree will be replaced free of charge.
After five years there will be a replacement charge of £144.
Where possible we will replace your tree in it's original position. However, this will depend upon the growth of the surrounding trees' and the availability of natural light to allow a young tree to grow. Therefore it may be necessary to ask you to choose a new tree in a different area. Any trees which require replacing will be done so during the winter months.
Alternatively you can choose to have your plaque added to our plaque wall as a permanent dedication, free of charge, or the plaque can remain in place, along with a wooden tree stake to mark the original tree position.
We reserve the right to remove any dead or dangerous trees. We will do our best to contact the sponsor in such circumstances.
Should your tree fail, we encourage you to keep on enjoying Heritage Wood and view the wood as a whole as your continuing dedication.
HOW MUCH OXYGEN DOES ONE TREE PRODUCE?
A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year.
One acre of trees annually consumes the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent to that produced by driving an average car for 26,000 miles. That same acre of trees also produces enough oxygen for 18 people to breathe for a year
